Introduction
Refers to Dorin, Demmin and Gabel, 1990, theory provides a general explanation for observation made over time. No one can establish the precise date when sociological theory began. People have been thinking about, and developing theories of, social life since early in history. It is only in the 1800s that we begin to find thinkers who can be clearly identified as sociologists (Ritzer, 2000).
Human society has travelled a long journey from stone age to the age of technology. The age of technology, in which we are living today and the technological revolutions are founded on the pillars of information. Our present society is thus information based society. The changes that are occurring in the multifarious facets of human life in modern society incriminate social, economic, political, educational, learning environment, research and development, industry and business, trade and commerce, government and administration and cultural (Anil, 2005).
Five Laws of Library Science that We Need to Learn
A library is a place where books are collected, they are organized so that the information contained in them is disseminated to the desired points. In order to let the library serve its purpose, in our case to support learning, Dr. Ranganathan, the then Librarian of the University of Madras, enunciated the ‘Five Laws of Library Science’ in 1928. The laws are books are for use, every reader his / her book, every book its reader, save the time of the reader and library is a growing organism.
